In the Houston area, the most recent statistics indicate that more than 3,614 people are without a home on any given night. As winter brings colder temperatures to most of the nation, Houston’s warmer temperatures cause a large influx of homeless to our city. But even warmer average temperatures can’t guarantee all of those struggling will have access to warm clothes, and the winter temperatures of Houston can still pose a danger to those living on the street.
During this holiday season, in an effort to help those in need, Houston personal injury attorney Attorney Stewart J. Guss has started a hats, socks, and gloves drive, in partnership with the Star of Hope. The Star of Hope is a homeless shelter and recovery initiative, with different programs and housing options for men, women, and children. Star of Hope helps to serve the needs of the Homeless in the Houston area. Additionally, they provide workforce development, teen programs, mental health programs, and long-term permanent housing. Currently, they are housing over 500 women, two separate mens’ facilities, and over 100 children from newborn to 17.

The Star of Hope currently needs:
- New/gently used winter hats and winter gloves and mittens. Hats of all sizes/types. Used is fine, but please make sure they are clean and usable. Please ensure gloves are clean and usable.
- New socks of all sizes/types for men, women and children. They provide socks for individuals of all ages – from newborn to senior citizens, so all socks are welcome!
The offices of Attorney Stewart J. Guss will have three drop-off boxes located in the lobby of the office. Stewart Guss has also made a large initial donation of these much needed items. These hats, socks, and gloves will be distributed directly to those in need by Star of Hope.
