Best Smartphone Apps for Car Accidents

Car accidents are an unfortunate fact of life in Houston. According to some statistics, the typical driver will be involved in 3 to 4 accidents over the course of their driving lifetime.  In a city as large as Houston, that number may be much higher. As a result, it is prudent to make sure that you are prepared for a car crash in every way you can, including carrying sufficient insurance to cover your financial needs should you be unable to work.

From a legal perspective, one of the most important things to do after a car accident is to record as much information about the incident as possible. Often, especially after a more serious accident, people are often dazed and may have difficulty remembering the exact details of the accident. Furthermore, as time goes on, it memories may fade and important and relevant details may be forgotten or misremembered. Modern technology has created answer to this problem, in the form of smartphone apps designed to help people after car accidents.  Cell phone use in Houston is one of the major causes of accidents, so they should not be used while driving.  They can, however, come in handy after the collision.  Some of the most popular car accident apps and their features are detailed below.

  • iWrecked – According to its description at the iTunes Store website, iWrecked is the first car accident app made available for the iOS platform. It allows users to take photos, record details, find taxis and towing companies, and generates an accident report in PDF format to send to insurance companies, among other features.

  • Auto Accident App – This free app offers accident-sensing technology that connects with live help in order to confirm the location of an accident and notify emergency personnel automatically. In addition, the app can walk accident victims through the process of gathering information in order to ensure that the accident is properly documented.

  • Accident Wizard – Accident Wizard offers free live help to people who are involved in accidents, and also one-touch access to emergency personnel. Like other apps, it also assists user in gathering and documenting information about the accident.

  • C.A.R. – Car Accident Report – C.A.R.  is a free app that allows uses to save data automatically, making sure that information does not get inadvertently deleted. In addition, it automatically looks up a user’s location, and produces a comprehensive email report that includes all audio, photo, drawing, and text data.

It is important to note that as helpful as these apps can be, it is important for car accident victims to be certain to seek medical attention as soon as possible after a car accident. Some types of injuries may not develop symptoms for hours or even days after an accident, and making sure that they are properly identified by a physician can significantly help in establishing legal liability.  Also, of course, you should always seek the advice of a qualified personal injury attorney as soon as possible after the collision.
