The Law Firm of Stewart J. Guss knows how cancer can affect the whole family – his Mother, Sister, and Aunt are all breast cancer survivors. From doctors appointments and medicine to the emotional journey through treatment – cancer has a ripple effect on those around the one diagnosed.
The fight against breast cancer is a hard one – and we know more research and testing is needed in order to find a cure. It is for that reason, and in honor of Stewart’s Mother, Sister and Aunt, that we have launched a fundraiser with The Breast Cancer Charities of America. Attorney Guss is seeding the fundraiser with $500 to get the campaign off the ground.
According to breastcancer.org, About 1 in 8 women (just over 12 percent) will develop invasive breast cancer during their lives. While the mortality rates are starting to drop, breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer. Beyond skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
The Breast Cancer Charities of America uses funds raised to spread the word about cancer prevention and survival with women – starting in junior high all the way through adult years, along with helping those fighting cancer pay their bills, rent, and gifting them beauty-themed gift baskets. It’s important for us to educate everyone on the symptoms and risk factors of breast cancer to make sure our future generations are as healthy as possible.
