Megan Becker

Megan was born just northwest of Minneapolis, Minnesota. When she was ten years old her family moved to North Texas, eventually settling in the city of Wylie.

Megan attended the University of North Texas and completed a BA in Sociology with minors in Theater and English. She then received her MBA with a focus in management from the University of Phoenix, where she graduated cum laude. Next, she received her JD (with focuses in constitutional law, litigation, and appellate advocacy) from Florida Coastal School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholarship Recipient all three years.

Megan became interested in this field after she discovered that the Student Bar Association President was working at a personal injury firm that was hiring. She applied and was offered a legal assistant position in their settlement department. One day, she drafted a settlement brochure for a client who’d almost lost his life. The offer was much larger than expected, and she got to give him the good news herself. As he tearfully thanked her for her help, she knew she had found her path and could make a real difference in the lives of others.

In 2019 Megan joined the Attorney Guss team, where she proudly upholds our “client first” values. For Megan, customer satisfaction and service are paramount. She’s grateful for every opportunity to make someone’s life a little bit better after they’ve gone through trauma and hardship.

On the weekends, she loves to take road trips, go hiking, try different vegetarian recipes, and spend time with her dog Josie and her cats Norman and Hope.

Get to Know: Megan Becker

How do you celebrate after a big win for a client? “I typically dance very poorly, text my best friend, and cheers the team with either a Coke Zero or dry Tito’s martini (extra dirty, side of feta-stuffed olives) depending upon the time of day.”

What does it mean to you to work for Stewart J Guss, Attorney at Law? “It means the world to me. I’ve worked for many bosses and several lawyers, but I’ve never felt more at home than I do here. Everyone with “SJG” on their paycheck is treated with respect. We are truly a team who work together to help our clients.”

Do you have any hidden talents or surprising hobbies? “Singer/flautist/actress/poet. I can also fix a toilet.”

What did you think you were going to be when growing up? “An actress or a lawyer.”

What is your favorite TV show or movie? “My favorite show that is on right now is Better Things. My favorite movie has always been Dead Poets Society.”

If you could know more about one thing, what would it be? “French. I keep studying it on and off throughout my life, but feel like I’m still at a beginner’s level.”
